Optical Media Destruction
Data Destruction Inc. destroys CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs by physical destruction, the only sanitization outcome NIST SP 800-88 r2 recognizes for optical media, since discs have no magnetic domains and no rewrite path.
Optical discs are easy to overlook and easy to copy, which makes an abandoned CD binder a quiet liability. There is no overwrite and no degauss shortcut here: an optical disc must be physically destroyed to render its data unrecoverable.
